Been a while...

So when i started this blog /makeup diary, I figured I would update it once a week or at least whenever I get new products. That however has not happened so I think I should try to make up for some of my absence with some new posts and swatches of my collection.

As a bonus I have here my makeup of the day. A completely useless look as I don't inted to leave the house all day and on top of that it is raining as well. But oh well.

Swatches and pictures of Clinique chubby sticks

Okay, so I currently have three chubby sticks and it's pretty safe to say I'll probably have more by the summer. I'm an addict. I know.

So the shades I have are: 15 Pudgy Peony, 08 Grandest Grape and 05 Plushest Punch

Pudgy Peony is a gorgeous cool toned pink. It's not that intense but it gives a really beautiful wash of color on the lips.

Grandest Grape is a reddish purple. It's very pigmented and I just love the color.

Plushest Punch is a bright warm toned pink with great pigmentation. Probably something I would wear more in the summers.

They all feel soft and balmy on the lips and are quite moisturizing. My favorite would be Pudgy Peony that was recommended to me by a clerk at a clinique counter. Though it's not as pigmented as the other ones, it is the most wearable and it really compliments my skin tone. When I'm feeling a bit drab and I don't want to wear a lot of makeup I usually choose to wear this since it brings back some needed color and brightness to my face.

The only negatives I have with these are the high price, and the fact that with the soft balminess I can't absolutely trust them not to go over my lip lines. The latter is not a problem with Pudgy Peony but with Grandest Grape, I would be careful. That is why I mainly use it with my MAC Currant lip liner, using it as a barricade. In day to day use also I blot it before leaving the house. I actually use use it as a stain most of the time, since as much as I love a dark lip, I'm not corageous enough to actually wear a bold lip in day time. Hopefully that'll change one day.

Lumene Lingonberry Lip Lacquer

The reason I want to review or swatch so many products here is mostly because that way I remember them myself. I remember what i liked and disliked about a product and if I ever plan to repurchase I'll have my notes on it here.

So today we'll be looking at the Lumene Lingonberry Lip Lacquers.

I got 3 of these as a Christmas present from a family friend.

The shades i have are 1, 6 and 8.

1 is a warm peachy muted color. If it wasn't so pigmented it would be a nude. Probably something I could use in a 60's makeup.

6 is like a hot pink. My favorite out of the three. If I liked glosses more I'd probably use it a lot.

8 is also a natural color. A sort of My Lips But Better shade.

They all have great pigmentation and they're basically highly pigmented lip glosses. And as such, they're actually pretty good, they're sticky so they stay on, but they don't have that overly sticky feeling that would put you off.  As a bonus they also feel pretty moisturizing on.

Lip glosses aren't really my thing though so I don't really use them; my hair always gets caught on them and then wipes it on my cheek which is especially a problem with pigmented glosses since it makes a mess of my face.

The packaging is handy but I think the design could be improved. I probably would never have bought them myself at a store since they don't look very appealing.

The applicator is a thin brush which I like since it allows you to be precise. I never could get the shape I wanted with the spongy applicators like the one in Rimme's Apocalips.

So overall a good product though these particular shades might not be the best for me. Muted colors don't really do anything for my skin tone so I tend to avoid them at all costs. However if I feel like buying a new lipgloss I would consider purchasing one of the brighter shades.

And on a side note; It's really horrible taking close up pictures of your own lips. If you have not experienced the torture, I suggest you try so you'll know what I'm talking about. My lips get really tense and start wiggling by themselves from the tension, hence why I couldn't really get good looking pictures xD

MAC Lipstick in Sunny Seoul

Okay.... So one thing you'll find out eventually is that I really really like MAC. Which is bad on my budget though perhaps better than loving Estee Lauder, Chanel or Dior. And this time we'll be looking at my most recent MAC purchase, the lipstick in Sunny Seoul.

Though this is my most recent MAC purchase it was a while ago. I think I've had this lipstick for about... 4 or 5 months soon? I remember buying it in the fall and going to the MAC counter, intent on getting a nude lipstick. I think I had been thinking about buying something like Shy Girl or Hue but at the counter a lovely makeup artist came and assisted me with choosing the right shade and after trying on a couple shades it was clear that most of the pale nudes completely washed me out. Sunny Seoul was pretty much the lightest color that didn't make me look horrible.

(Off the topic, but do you know the feeling of embarrassment when a store assistant offers you their help and you just can't explain what you're looking for without sounding like a complete idiot who has no idea what they're talking about? I feel like I experience this way too often.)

Sunny Seoul is my most used lipsticks alongside the Pudgy Peony chubby stick. It's a warm light pink that has a bit too much color to be defined as a nude. It's a cremesheen and on the MAC website it's described as "a frosted light warm pink". The frost is not noticeable unless you look really closely. Frost isn't really my thing though, so I would probably like it even more without it.

I wouldn't say the formula is moisturizing but it's not really drying either. It's just a really nice every day lipstick. Not too obvious but still better than my natural lip color. I'm quite excited about using it in the upcoming spring months :D

Introductions and stuff

This will be the first post I ever make on this blog or any blog for that matter. Therefore I am popping my blogging cherry. That was meant to be a pun, since everyone calls me Cherry.

I'd like to confess that I am a makeup addict right off the bat. Makeup makes me happy and gets me excited. I have no idea when it started and I'm in way too deep to see any easy way out of it.

I would say my biggest weakness is lip products... especially lipsticks. There is just something enticing about a woman wearing a bold lip color. To me it feels almost empowering to be walking around with a dark lip. With it I can secretly imagine being a vampire or a model walking a runway.

My current favorite lip product would be a dark purple lipstick; Clinique's chubby stick intense in Grandest Grape. I actually bought it on a whim but I ended up really loving. I've only worn it as it is a dozen or so times with MAC's Currant lip liner. I usually try to make it more wearable during the day by mixing it with my staple chubby stick in Pudgy Peony.

I might add pictures of them at some point :)

Thank you for reading!
(I see you Hime and Ceil.)

Cherry
